Thank you for supporting La Caravana Escuela and its life-changing programs. To facilitate contributions by U.S. donors, we have created a “friends of La Caravana Escuela” entity. Donations made to this entity all support the work of the program in Venezuela.
The U.S. La Caravana Escuela entity, created to support the work in Venezuela, is a California corporation led by a three-person Board of Directors. It collaborates with the Venezuelan team to develop annual plans and budgets, to refine community outreach and training programs, and to assure timely and accurate reporting of human impacts and financial results. All funds disbursed to Venezuela are in accord with a Board-approved budget with the U.S. entity monitoring use of funds. Directors and officers are:
Alberto Arvelo, Chairman of LaCaravanaEscuela, CEO Karibanna Content LLC. Filmmaker. His films have won more than 30 international awards. Arvelo currently directs the Los Angeles Philharmonic Series SOUND STAGE. Long-time connection with El Sistema, a world-renown musical training institution founded in Venezuela in 1975, many of whose educational techniques are being adapted and applied in LaCaravanaEscuela.
Stephen Yusko, Secretary of LaCaravanaEscuela, US. Studio artist with a focus on blacksmithing for over 30 years. Master of Fine Arts from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, IL. Former artist-in-residence at the Metal Museum in Memphis, TN and at Rose Iron Works in Cleveland, OH. He has taught at several schools and universities, including Haystack School of Crafts (ME) and Penland School of Crafts (NC) and SUNY Purchase (NY). He has exhibited his work widely, including the Ruthin Craft Centre (Wales, UK) and a solo exhibition at the Metal Museum (TN) and has received three Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Excellence Awards. Yusko provides advice on training and studio techniques and is a link between La Caravana Escuela Venezuela and the expertise and support available in the United States.
Gabriela Camejo, Is Chief Operating Officer of LaCaravanaEscuela in Los Angeles, Master of Protocols and Event Organization, Universidad Miguel Hernandez, Spain. Art Historian, graduated from La Universidad de Los Andes.
